EXCURSION ACTIVITY AS A MEANS OF PROMOTING THE MULTICULTURAL HISTORICAL HERITAGE OF VOLYN

Abstract

The article explores excursion activities as a powerful means of preserving and promoting the multicultural heritage of the Volyn region. The relevance of the topic is due to the need to understand the multilayered cultural heritage of Volyn, which was formed as a result of the long coexistence and interaction of representatives of different ethnic groups, religions and traditions. In the context of modern challenges, including war, destruction of the cultural environment, and the need to preserve identity, excursion practice is gaining particular importance as a form of cultural communication, education, and interethnic dialogue. The purpose of the study is to identify the features, potential and effective approaches to organising excursions aimed at representing the multicultural heritage of Volyn, as well as to analyse their impact on the formation of a tolerant worldview, preservation of historical memory and enhancement of the region's tourist attractiveness. The methodological basis of the study is based on interdisciplinary approaches that combine elements of historical and cultural analysis, ethnography, source studies and local history. The methods used are comparative analysis, field research, observation, analysis of the content of excursion routes, questionnaires of excursionists, as well as the study of archival and museum sources. The study found that excursion activities in the Volyn region have significant potential for restoring and updating multicultural narratives. It has been found that successful excursion routes are based on a deep historical context, take into account local peculiarities, and activate the emotional involvement of the audience. Tours dedicated to Jewish, Polish, Czech, German, and Ukrainian cultural heritage contribute to the formation of new approaches to understanding common history and cultural identity. The practical value of the article lies in the formulation of recommendations for museum staff, local historians, guides, and tour route organisers. The results of the study can be used in the development of cultural tourism, the creation of interactive programmes for young people, as well as in intercultural educational projects at both the regional and national levels.
