EXPORT OF UKRAINIAN ORGANIC PRODUCTS: PRIORITIES AND DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
Abstract
The paper highlights the priorities and prospects for the development of exports of Ukrainian organic products from the practical point of view. It is determined that despite the Russian-Ukrainian war and the negative factors caused by it, in 2022 new operators joined the Ukrainian organic market and more processed organic products entered the market. It has been established that an important basis for the development of exports of Ukrainian organic products was Ukraine's obtaining the status of a candidate for EU membership, which expands the possibilities of cooperation with EU countries, as Ukrainian organic producers are able to increase their own exports of organic products, find new markets and new customers and partners. It is found that Ukraine remains a reliable supplier of organic products and is among the TOP 5 suppliers of organic products to the EU, in particular, in 2019 and 2020, Ukraine ranked 4th in terms of exports of organic products to the EU. The analyzed dynamics of exports of organic products shows that Ukraine exports grain crops to European countries, while the Netherlands is the largest importer of organic products from Ukraine. It has been determined that exports of organic products from Ukraine to European countries, especially to the EU, Switzerland and Norway, in 2022 exceeded exports in 2021 by 15.3%. It is established that a significant share of organic products in 2022 was exported by road (58.6%), with 26.8% exported by water transport and 14.6% by rail. It is highlighted that the leading countries that imported Ukrainian organic products in 2022 include the Netherlands (the country imported 101 thousand tons of organic products), Germany (33.1 thousand tons), and the United States (33.1 thousand tons), Austria (27.3 thousand tons), Switzerland (17.7 thousand tons) and Poland (13.4 thousand tons). It is determined that more than 54% of total exports of organic products were cereals (122.3 thousand tons), and more than 24% were oilseeds and protein crops. It is established that today Ukraine is actively working in international markets and is exploring various export opportunities for the supply of organic products.
