RESEARCH OF FEATURES OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF AGROHOLDING "KERNEL" IN POST-WAR PERIOD
Abstract
The article analyzes the projects of social responsibility implemented by "Kernel," a leading global and largest Ukrainian producer and exporter of sunflower oil. It highlights the key corporate social responsibility projects carried out by Kernel, especially during the military aggression from Russia. These projects include Open Agro University (an educational project for training specialists in the agro-food industry), Open Agribusiness (a project that helps farmers take their businesses to a new level), regular psychological support through webinars, humanitarian assistance to residents of occupied territories, and more. The article presents the dynamics of social payments by Kernel from 2011 to 2022, demonstrating a high level of activity in addressing social issues in society through annual increases in social payments from its budget. There was a significant increase in social payments in 2014 (due to Russian aggression), 2020 (the start of the COVID-19 pandemic), and 2022 (full-scale invasion of our country), indicating Kernel's commitment to addressing social challenges. A regression model was constructed to determine the relationship between the volume of social payments by Kernel and the annual percentage change in Ukraine's GDP. The intensity of the connection between the variables included in the regression model is measured by the correlation coefficient, which is -0.908, indicating a strong inverse relationship between the variables. The coefficient of determination shows that 82% of the dependent variable is explained by the influence of the independent variable. The adequacy of the regression model and correlation coefficient was verified using the Fisher criterion, which concludes that the model is adequate since the observed F-statistic value of 47.047 is greater than the tabulated value at a significance level of 0.01. The independent variable included in the model is statistically significant (the t-statistic value of 3.0448 is greater than the tabulated value at a significance level of 0.01). Based on the calculations for statistical data from 2011 to 2022, it can be assumed that in the event of a 1% probable decline in Ukraine's GDP during economic crises, Kernel would respond by increasing its social payments by $581.2 thousand USD. The conducted research shows that despite the full-scale war and income reduction in 2022, social support has become a significant part of Kernel's expenses. The increase in its social payments in 2022 compared to 2021 demonstrates high social responsibility and humanism, positioning Kernel as a leader among similar companies.
