ADDED VALUE IN THE SEGMENT OF PRODUCTION OF NICE CROPS
Abstract
Despite significant losses and destruction, agriculture continues to provide the country with food and play an important role in international trade. At the same time, the issue of optimizing agribusiness, finding new directions and new solutions to ensure stability and its development in the conditions of military operations is urgent. One of the promising ways to increase the efficiency of agribusiness in Ukraine is the cultivation of niche crops that can provide competitive advantages both in the domestic and foreign markets. Niche crops, as a rule, are characterized by high added value, resistance to climatic conditions and the possibility of cultivation on limited areas. They can become a source of additional income for farmers, as well as contribute to the diversification of agricultural production. The purpose of the study is to generalize the arguments that niche crops are profitable raw materials for the production of products with high added value and are an important source of additional income for domestic farmers. The article focuses on the role of added value in today's conditions in the segment of production of niche agricultural crops. The main reasons determining the interest of agricultural producers in the cultivation of niche crops are indicated. The main advantages and disadvantages of their production are presented. It was emphasized that the creation of added value is an urgent issue for the Ukrainian national economy, which in recent years has become an important reference point for agricultural producers when choosing the direction of their activities. It is substantiated that niche crops are profitable raw materials for the production of products with high added value. Attention is focused on linseed oil, amaranth, high-oleic sunflower. It is summarized that deep processing is a promising direction for Ukraine, since the country, as the results of the study revealed, has a wide and diverse raw material base for the production of products with high added value. The practical value of the study is that the cultivation and processing of niche crops is an interesting direction of diversification of production and export for both small farmers and large companies.
