THE IMPORTANCE OF ECONOMIC SECURITY IN MODERN SOCIETY

Abstract

The article examines the importance of Ukraine's economic security in the face of modern challenges, including war, global crises, and structural changes. It is determined that economic security is a key condition for the stable development of the state and ensuring its resilience to internal and external threats. An analysis of the dynamics of Ukraine's macroeconomic indicators for 2018–2023 was conducted, which made it possible to assess the impact of the pandemic, military actions, and state reforms on the main economic processes. The main threats to economic security were identified, including a decline in GDP, rising inflation, destruction of infrastructure, labor shortages, instability of foreign trade, and increased cyber risks. It is noted that in 2022, the Ukrainian economy experienced a significant decline due to the destruction of production capacities. Despite this, in 2023, a gradual recovery of GDP was observed, which indicates the adaptation of the economy to new conditions thanks to international financial support and state reforms. An additional challenge is the shortage of qualified personnel, which arose due to the mass migration of the working population, as well as damage to critical infrastructure, which limits the country's production potential. The research methodology is based on the use of structural and logical analysis, statistical modeling and comparative analysis of economic indicators. The need to strengthen economic security through the digitalization of economic processes, the development of innovative technologies, export stimulation and investment attraction is substantiated. Measures are proposed to strengthen cyber protection in the financial sector, improve mechanisms for state support for enterprises and increase the investment attractiveness of Ukraine. It is determined that the integration of modern technologies and the implementation of anti-crisis mechanisms are critically important for maintaining macroeconomic stability and competitiveness of the country. The practical significance of the study lies in the development of recommendations on strategic directions for increasing economic security, which will contribute to financial stability, economic growth and strengthening the state's resilience to global challenges. The importance of supporting domestic production by stimulating the production of value-added goods is outlined as one of the key areas for overcoming the economic crisis and increasing the competitiveness of the national economy.
