PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND ESG STRATEGIES
Abstract
The article examines the role of project management in the implementation of the concept of sustainable development and the implementation of ESG strategies (Environmental, Social, Governance) in the activities of modern organizations. The theoretical foundations of the integration of the principles of sustainable development into the project management system were studied, and it was also determined how environmental, social and managerial factors affect the efficiency, reputation and long-term sustainability of business. It is shown that a project approach focused on ESG values contributes to the formation of corporate responsibility, the development of social capital, and strengthening the trust of stakeholders. Special attention is paid to the transformation of the role of the project manager in new management conditions: from the executor of technical tasks to a strategic leader capable of ensuring a balance between economic results, social impact and environmental safety. An approach to evaluating the effectiveness of ESG-oriented projects using indicators of environmental responsibility, social interaction and the quality of corporate governance is proposed. Based on the analysis of international experience (Siemens, Unilever, Microsoft) and Ukrainian practices (DTEK, Nova Poshta, Kyivstar), it was determined that the implementation of ESG principles in project management contributes not only to increasing management efficiency, but also to strengthening the business reputation and investment attractiveness of organizations. Recommendations are offered for the development of ESG competencies of project managers, improvement of corporate culture and integration of sustainable development at all stages of the project life cycle. The results of the research can be used in the practice of corporate management, strategic planning and educational programs for training specialists in the field of project management. They confirm that ESG-oriented project management is becoming a key factor in ensuring long-term competitiveness and social responsibility of organizations in a global environment.
