RANKING-BASED MODEL FOR ASSESSING THE ECONOMIC SECURITY OF AN ENTERPRISE CONSIDERING THE THEMATIC GROUPING OF THREATS

Abstract

The article proposes a detailed and structured model for assessing the economic security of an enterprise, which is built upon the development of a ranking-based methodology aimed at prioritizing the safeguarding of specific groups of economic security components. Within the framework of this model, seven main groups of economic security are identified: financial and economic, technical and technological, human and intellectual, innovation and investment, market, informational, and legal. These groups are established through the identification and analysis of economic threats that could potentially affect the enterprise, with each threat linked to its corresponding economic security component. In total, sixteen components are defined, grouped as follows: financial security, economic stability, credit security, technological security, engineering and energy security, environmental protection, investment security, innovation development, competitive and reputational security, sales and logistics security, marketing strategy security, human resource system security, personnel availability, information protection, digital transformation security, and legal compliance. To prioritize these groups, a specialized scale has been developed using a cost-based assessment approach. The ranking process involves calculating the estimated costs associated with maintaining each security component and its respective group. The specific cost weight of each group is then calculated relative to the overall anticipated expenditure. These weighted values determine the ranking order, which reflects the urgency and importance of managerial intervention. The group placed at the top of the ranking requires immediate strategic decisions to mitigate the potential consequences of emerging threats. The strength of the proposed approach lies in its adaptability, practicality, and ability to support informed decision-making regarding the allocation of resources and the formation of strategic priorities at both the enterprise-wide and group-specific levels of economic security.
