PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF MANAGERS IN THE POST-WAR ECONOMY: NEW APPROACHES TO TRAINING CHANGE LEADERS
Abstract
In the article the theoretical foundations and practical approaches to the professional development of managers in the context of Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery have been examined. The primary objective of the study is to formulate strategies for preparing change leaders capable to effectively operating in conditions of high turbulence, digitalization, global challenges, and resource constraints. Key challenges faced by the management system have been analyzed, including significant losses of human capital, large-scale emigration of highly qualified specialists, transformations in the structure of the national economy, intensification of crisis phenomena, and global trends in technological restructuring. Has been concluded that traditional educational models for managerial training do not meet current demands; therefore, a transition to the lifelong learning concept is essential, enabling managers to continuously update their competencies in accordance with the dynamic environment. A system of professional development directions for managers has been proposed, encompassing the following key areas: leadership in crisis conditions, adaptability, and strategic thinking, which enable effective action under uncertainty, high risks, and changing circumstances; transformational leadership, involving vision, inspiration, value-based management, and the development of others, necessary for creating new management models in the conditions of deep structural changes; digital literacy and technological adaptability, which ensure the effective implementation of IT solutions and management of online teams; communication skills and negotiation abilities, crucial for coordinating interactions between the public sector, business, and civil society; emotional resilience, self-regulation, and empathy, which help maintain psycho-emotional balance and prevent burnout; project thinking and resource-constrained management, promoting rational planning and allocation of limited budgets and personnel; innovativeness and change orientation, stimulating the development of new approaches, products, and services; as well as environmental and social thinking, represented by ESG competencies that align with sustainable development requirements and international support.
