FINANCIAL POTENTIAL OF A COMPANY: ESSENCE, FORMS OF MANIFESTATION, AND MANAGEMENT UNDER CONDITIONS OF INCREASING INSTABILITY AND UNCERTAINTY
Abstract
The article highlights the essence and key aspects of financial potential through the lens of the ability to transform existing and forecasted long-term resources into strategic directions aimed at ensuring the achievement of the maximum possible profitability for companies. Based on the results of the research, it can be argued that financial potential manifests itself through two approaches: resource-based and opportunity-based, with a synergistic effect arising from their interaction. It is important to note that financial potential has two forms of manifestation: “financial potential” and “financial resources”. The paper provides a systematization of the substantive content of financial potential, allowing for the identification of its key functions, namely: cognitive, analytical, forecasting and prospective, systematization and adaptation, as well as, considering the specifics of post-war national economic recovery, a restorative function regarding the use of available financial resources, as well as their accumulation and effective utilization. This is based on the principles of hierarchy, the formation of an effective structural framework, timely monitoring, diagnostics, and adjustments based on flexibility criteria, while considering both resource-based and non-resource-based components. The strategy of financial potential management is revealed as a multi-faceted definition, with two key criteria identified: the state of the company's financial potential and the development prospects of the target market, both of which influence its formation. Four main states of financial potential are distinguished: critical, unsatisfactory, stable, and resilient. The optimal conditions for implementing strategies of recovery, stabilization, qualitative development, transformation, effective reproduction, and expanded reproduction are characterized. Special attention is given to the issue of financial stability for business entities. The author's interpretation of this concept is provided as the ability to carry out stable financial activities and the capacity to adapt to the influence of both exogenous and endogenous factors.
