INDUSTRIAL ESTATES' ROLE IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF ECONOMIC SYSTEMS: A THEORETICAL APPROACH
Abstract
This study examines the role of industrial parks in transforming economic systems, focusing on their potential as a strategic tool for Ukraine's post-war recovery. The study examines the theoretical framework underlying the development and functioning of industrial parks. The key approaches include Michael Porter's cluster theory, which emphasizes how geographically concentrated industries increase competitiveness through innovation and resource optimization; Simon Kuznets' theory of structural change, which emphasizes the need to reallocate resources to more productive sectors such as manufacturing and services; and Paul Krugman's theory of economic geography, which explains how industrial concentration affects regional development, employment, and income distribution. Particular attention is paid to theories of sustainable development and circular economy, emphasizing the environmental benefits of industrial parks, such as minimizing waste, optimizing resource use, and promoting sustainable growth. The analysis defines industrial parks as platforms for innovation ecosystems that facilitate cooperation between businesses, research institutions, and the government to drive technological progress. In addition, they effectively overcome regional economic imbalances by decentralizing industrial activities and creating conditions for export-oriented industrialization, which facilitates integration into global markets and foreign exchange inflows. The results of the study highlight the importance of industrial parks in addressing global economic trends such as digitalization, decarbonization, and supply chain recalibration. Such parks are uniquely positioned to balance national interests, regional cooperation, and international commitments, potentially becoming a cornerstone of Ukraine's economic sustainability and modernization. The article highlights the prospects of using industrial parks as a strategic tool for economic recovery in Ukraine.
