PROSPECTS AND PROBLEMS OF UKRAINE’S EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

Abstract

The course of European integration taken by the modern Ukrainian state at the beginning of its existence, transforming over time, became an integral part of Ukrainian constitution, and therefore, its implementation is one of the main and existential tasks of Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to investigate the main problems and prospects for the implementation of this task in the context of the current Russian-Ukrainian war. Methodological basis includes general and special methods of scientific research, such as methods of theoretical generalization, synthesis and analysis, comparison and others. The main factors currently affecting the possibilities and prospects of Ukraine's integration into European Union have been analysed and systematized. In particular, attention is paid to motivational factors capable of forming the readiness of European Union and speeding up its decisions regarding the integration of Ukraine; the importance of migration between Ukraine and EU is outlined both in connection with the war and with future European integration of Ukraine; the question of the effectiveness of public administration as a guarantee of proper institutional changes for the sake of European integration is considered; the order of Ukraine’s admission to EU was analysed, given the presence of other candidate countries, some of which submitted their applications earlier. Attention was also paid to the post-war development of Ukraine as a newly accepted EU member state. The article proposes approaches to implementation of European integration transformations in Ukraine, which can ensure effective, systematic and consistent preparation of the country for joining the EU. In particular, it is about the construction and development of the system of relevant state institutions that will contribute to the transformation of various spheres of the Ukrainian state functioning in accordance with European standards and values; on the other hand, it is possible and expedient to introduce desired and planned transformations to the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on future accession.
