THE STANDARD OF LIVING OF THE POPULATION OF UKRAINE UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC INSTABILITY

Abstract

Under today's conditions, the standard of living of the population is one of the key indicators of the socioeconomic development of the country. The effectiveness of economic changes is determined not only by the achievement of economic stability but also by changes in the well-being of the population. The standard of living of the population serves as an important characteristic of the state of the economic system and is a necessary condition for its development. Therefore, the analysis of the standard of living of the population of Ukraine is an urgent problem and requires research. The purpose of the article is to highlight the methodology of assessing the indicators of the standard of living of the population of Ukraine and to conduct an analysis to identify the mechanisms of its further growth. The methodological and informational basis of the research is the articles of scientists that highlight the issue of statistical assessment of the population's standard of living, materials from periodicals, and Internet resources on these issues. When conducting the research, the methods of system and logical analysis, the method of summarizing information, comparative analysis, structural and dynamic analysis were used, as well as the method of information visualization using graphs and tables. The article summarizes the concept of "standard of living". The system of quantitative and qualitative indicators for assessing the standard of living of the population of Ukraine is presented. A structural and dynamic analysis of the standard of living of the country's population was conducted, which revealed a tendency to decrease its quantitative parameters. The study revealed the consistency of state policy in meeting the needs of the population of Ukraine. A stable trend of real income growth has been established, which led to the creation of prerequisites for improving the material well-being of the population. In the formation of household incomes, two main sources prevail wages of employees and social transfers. The structure of expenses indicates a low level of the population's standard of living (the share of food expenses is 50.1%). There is an imbalance in the material well-being of the country's population due to significant differentiation of aggregate resources and costs per adult among residents of different types of settlements and different socio-demographic compositions of households. The spending structure of Ukrainian households acquired characteristics characteristic of a society with a market economy. The analysis of the purchasing power of the population revealed its low level and the slow rate of growth of the average statistical income of the population. Based on the results of the research, it can be stated that the standard of living of the population of Ukraine is low.
