THE FORMATION OF THE MODERN SERVICES MARKET AND ITS TRANSFORMATIONS UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

The article examines scientific approaches to the interpretation of the "service" as category and defines the features of a service as a product in the process of international trade. The authors outline the specific features of a service that distinguish it from a product, such as: the fact that it is the result, not the process of activity, and is of a commercial nature. It was also found that one of its specific features is the immateriality of the result. The authors also made an attempt to generalize approaches to the classification of services from the position of leading international economic institutions. It was found that the services can be divided into two main blocks: structural and branch and production and commercial operations. Services are also classified as market and non-market, as well as factor and non-factor services. The main trends in the development of the world market of services in the conditions of global transformations of the economy and sectoral features of the development of the non-manufacturing sphere as a whole over the last decades, which characterized primarily by the growing role of international transport, are also studied. The main factors that affect the growth of the global market of services in the modern world are determined. It is also described how transformational processes change the very essence of a service as a product and diversify the sphere of services as a whole, contributing to the emergence of new types of services and complicating the interaction between all participants of this market segment. It has been found that in the conditions of the global economy, the specific features of services are changing: some of them may acquire tangible forms, and certain types become visible and even amenable to storage. In addition, some types of services no longer require direct interaction between the buyer and the seller. Therefore, it can be argued that at the moment a powerful world market for services has been formed, which is developing at a faster pace than the market for goods. Today, the growing sphere of services is gradually turning into a dominant sector of the world economy.
