KEY TRENDS IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES’ SUPPLY CHAINS IN THE CONTEXT OF CRISES AND GLOBAL RISKS

Keywords: supply chains, management, transformation, industry, enterprise, artificial intelligence, development trends

Abstract

This article systematises and analyses the key trends in the transformation of industrial enterprises’ supply chains against a backdrop of crises, geopolitical instability and global risks. It is argued that current changes in the functioning of logistics systems are driven by the impact of digitalisation, artificial intelligence, automation, changes in trade policy, cyber threats, climate risks and the need to optimise costs. The main directions for the development of supply chains have been identified: artificial intelligence, automation, flexibility and resilience, the evolution of the workforce, transparency and traceability, cybersecurity, cost optimisation, flexible and dynamic supply, climate and circularity. The role of digital twins, predictive analytics and digital integration in enhancing the adaptability, transparency and efficiency of logistics processes has been examined. The impact of geopolitical conflicts and trade restrictions on the restructuring of global networks through the regionalisation of production, diversification of suppliers and logistics routes has been considered. It has been established that combining flexibility and resilience is becoming a strategic requirement, whilst agile sourcing enables the rapid adjustment of procurement strategies in line with changes in demand and risks. Emphasis is placed on the transformation of the workforce, the development of digital skills, adaptability and continuous learning. The escalation of cyber risks has been analysed, and the importance of network segmentation, vulnerability monitoring and multi-factor authentication for ensuring business continuity has been identified. The shift from localised cost-cutting to comprehensive resource optimisation has been justified. The circular economy is also explored as a component of competitiveness and sustainable development for industrial enterprises. It has been established that, in the near future, the greatest impact on the transformation of supply chains will come from artificial intelligence, automation, changes in trade policy, and increased flexibility and resilience of logistics systems.
