ECO-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL TOURISM: INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND POSSIBILITIES OF IMPLEMENTATION IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The article explores the theoretical and applied principles of eco-oriented development of rural tourism in the context of modern transformations of the tourism industry of Ukraine. The focus is on the transition from a resource-consuming to a renewable model of using natural, cultural and human potential, which allows ensuring long-term sustainability of the development of territories. The current macroeconomic trends in the development of the tourism industry of Ukraine are analyzed, in particular, the dynamics of tax revenues, changes in the structure of tourist demand and the growth of the role of domestic tourism. It is proven that the activation of small and medium-sized businesses, the growth of the number of tourism entities and the increase in the volume of tourist fees create a financial and organizational basis for the implementation of eco-oriented practices. The international experience of the development of eco-oriented rural tourism is summarized, in particular, the practices of the European Union countries, which are based on a combination of institutional support, integration of tourism with other types of economic activity, the use of local resources and the involvement of communities in the management of tourism processes and the possibility of its adaptation to Ukrainian realities. The key mechanisms of eco-orientation of rural tourism are systematized, among which ecological certification and standardization, resource localization, clustering of subjects, educational and behavioral practices, state support and digitalization are highlighted. It is substantiated that their complex interaction forms a multi-level management system that provides a synergistic effect, increases the competitiveness of tourist destinations and contributes to the preservation of the natural environment of Ukraine. It is proven that eco-oriented rural tourism can act as an effective tool for the restoration of rural areas of Ukraine, stimulating economic activity, job creation, development of local markets and social integration of the population. The results obtained form a theoretical basis for further research in the field of developing tools for assessing the level of eco-orientation of tourist destinations, improving state support mechanisms and introducing digital technologies into the practice of rural tourism management. It is substantiated that the combination of ecological principles and innovative approaches is a key condition for the formation of a competitive and sustainable model of rural tourism development in Ukraine.
