Abstract

Rural green tourism is increasingly recognized as an important component of the sustainable development model of territorial communities, as it stimulates local economic activity, attracts investment, and contributes to the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. The relevance of this type of tourism has significantly increased in recent years due to the growing demand for environmentally friendly and culturally oriented travel experiences. In addition, global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the socio-economic consequences of military conflicts have intensified economic instability and deepened disparities between urban and rural areas. Under these conditions, rural green tourism becomes an effective alternative instrument for revitalizing rural territories and improving the quality of life of local residents. The purpose of this study is to analyze rural green tourism as a strategic tool for the socio-economic development of territorial communities and to identify the key mechanisms and conditions for its effective implementation. The methodological framework of the research is based on a combination of scientific approaches, including comparative analysis, SWOT analysis, a systems approach, and methods of scientific generalization. These methods made it possible to conduct a comprehensive assessment of economic, social, and environmental factors influencing the development of rural green tourism. The results of the study demonstrate that rural green tourism contributes to the creation of new jobs in rural areas, diversification of income sources for local households, and stimulation of small-scale entrepreneurship and local business initiatives. Furthermore, the development of rural tourism promotes the preservation of natural landscapes, traditional ways of life, local customs, and cultural identity of rural communities. At the same time, the research identifies a number of existing challenges that hinder the effective development of the sector, including insufficient infrastructure development, limited access to financial resources, inadequate marketing and information support, and certain institutional barriers. The practical significance of the research lies in the development of recommendations aimed at improving rural tourism infrastructure, strengthening institutional and organizational support, enhancing marketing strategies, and increasing the role of rural green tourism in ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of territorial communities.
