DIRECTIONS OF DIGITALIZATION OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
Abstract
The relevance of the study stems from the need to manage supply chains in volatile markets where transparency, agility and coordination are decisive. Digital tools provide end-to-end visibility, shorten response time and support data-driven decisions across partners. The article aims to track and systematize key directions of supply chain digitalization and to assess how they influence the efficiency and resilience of logistics processes. The research applies analysis and synthesis to structure scholarly approaches; comparative analysis to evaluate benefits and limitations of technologies; and structural-logical analysis to identify directions of digital transformation of logistics business processes. Conclusions are formed by generalizing recent publications, analytical reports and industry practices. The results show that digitalization relies on an interconnected toolkit: SCM and WMS platforms, big data analytics, IoT sensing for asset tracking and condition control, AI and machine learning for demand forecasting and route planning, blockchain for trusted records and smart contracts, and autonomous transport solutions. These tools enable real-time monitoring of material flows, improve forecast accuracy, optimize routes and inventory levels, reduce operating costs, and increase reliability and traceability. Constraints include high investment and integration costs, interoperability and data quality issues, cybersecurity risks, and insufficient digital skills of personnel. Also considered are cloud integration, electronic document flow and BI dashboards that unify data from suppliers, carriers and warehouses for joint planning. The discussion links these tools to KPI-based monitoring of cost, speed and risks. The practical value lies in using the proposed classification when designing enterprise digital transformation roadmaps. The article underlines that technology choice should be linked with process redesign, data governance and continuous staff training to achieve measurable performance gains and sustainable supply chain development.
