STRENGTHENING UKRAINE'S ENERGY SECURITY: ANALYSIS OF COMPONENTS
Abstract
The article explores the definition of the essence of strengthening Ukraine's energy security in terms of natural gas and electricity markets and analyzes the key factors that characterize the current state of the energy system. The object of the study is Ukraine's energy system. The subject of the study is strengthening Ukraine's energy security. The article addresses the important practical issue of strengthening energy security and the security of energy market institutions necessary to intensify Ukraine's energy sustainability and improve the protection of the energy system as a whole. Particular attention is paid to new sources of energy, which contributes to strengthening Ukraine's energy security. The definition of energy security in the context of international and domestic legislation is analyzed. The current basic components of building a sustainable energy balance in the country are identified. A quantitative analysis of natural gas production and electricity generation indicators, as well as natural gas and electricity import volumes, is conducted based on research from 2021. Particular attention is paid to the current state and development of modern energy sources. The characteristics of renewable energy sources and the corresponding types of technologies for electricity production by registered power facilities and consumer electrical installations are outlined. Specific legislative initiatives to ensure the revitalization of development and support for various energy sources at the domestic level are analyzed. Problems and prospects for the implementation of legal standards for further strengthening the energy sector and building an energy-independent model in the realities of the current situation are highlighted. Ukrainian lawmaking continues to move towards creating conditions that will ensure energy independence and stability on the domestic energy front. The results of the study contribute to the development of the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of Ukraine's energy security, which will serve to increase the efficiency, stability, and sustainability of the energy system as a whole.
