SYSTEMATIC ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The article assesses Ukraine’s international logistics system using the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) as a key global indicator of supply chain efficiency. The study’s relevance stems from the growing role of logistics in Ukraine’s economic stability, export potential, and integration into the global market amid post-war recovery and alignment with EU transport standards. The research aims to evaluate logistics efficiency, identify constraints and opportunities, and develop recommendations to strengthen competitiveness internationally. The methodology combines comparative, statistical, and analytical approaches, drawing on World Bank LPI data, reports of international logistics organizations, and national transport statistics. Comparison with EU countries enables detection of structural gaps and trends, while SWOT analysis highlights Ukraine’s internal strengths and weaknesses alongside external opportunities and threats shaping sustainable logistics development. Results show Ukraine’s logistics performance remains unstable, heavily dependent on infrastructure quality, regulation, and digitalization. Despite progress in customs simplification and freight tracking, challenges persist in multimodal transport, cross-border coordination, and investment. Modernizing corridors, accelerating digital transformation, and harmonizing with EU transport policy are key to improved performance. The sector demonstrates adaptability under martial law, maintaining trade flows despite crises. The study’s practical significance lies in applying its analytical framework and recommendations to develop national logistics strategies, optimize transport company operations, and enhance regulations for international freight. Findings can guide policy on infrastructure modernization and strengthen Ukraine’s integration into the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), contributing to sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
