MACROECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF INFLATION ON ECONOMIC GROWTH
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the impact of inflation on economic growth in the context of modern macroeconomic transformations. Particular attention is paid to Ukrainian realities, the dynamics of inflationary processes during 2015-2025. To assess the impact of inflation on the economic growth of Ukraine, a correlation-regression analysis was conducted based on official statistical data on the level of inflation and the dynamics of Ukraine's GDP for 2015-2024. The results indicate the presence of a negative impact of inflation on Ukraine's GDP. An increase in inflation is associated with a decrease in the rate of economic growth, which corresponds to classical economic theories regarding the impact of price shocks on the real sector. Based on empirical data, recommendations are formulated to increase the effectiveness of state policy in the field of inflation control and ensuring sustainable economic growth. According to the correlation-regression analysis, it was found that inflation explains approximately 24.4% of the variation in GDP growth rates, that is, inflation is not the only key factor in economic dynamics, and the rest depends on other macroeconomic and structural factors - military operations, investment activity, stability of the financial system, state support, foreign trade conditions, etc. In the conditions of structural shocks of the Ukrainian economy in 2015–2024, inflation is not a determining factor in GDP changes, which led to a low level of correlation and statistical significance of the indicators. The results of the study indicate the presence of a negative impact of inflation on Ukraine's GDP. An increase in inflation is associated with a decrease in economic growth rates, which corresponds to classical economic theories regarding the impact of price shocks on the real sector. It is proposed to apply a systemic approach that integrates monetary, fiscal and structural policy instruments to effectively curb inflation in Ukraine. The combination of stable macro-financial policy and effective state regulation will minimize the negative consequences of inflation and create conditions for long-term economic progress. It has been proven that controlled moderate inflation acts as a stimulus for economic growth, contributing to the activation of investments, the renewal of production capacities and the growth of employment.
