LABOUR MARKET TRANSFORMATION: THE ROLE OF FLEXIBLE FORMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical study of labour market transformation under the influence of globalization and technological changes, focusing on the introduction and development of flexible forms of employment. The paper analyses their role in modern economic processes, identifies the main advantages and risks for employees and employers, and assesses their impact on social and economic structures. The current transformation of the labour market is a complex and multidimensional process driven by structural shifts at both micro and macro levels. For a comprehensive understanding of these dynamics, a systemic analytical approach is applied, particularly through the use of SWOT and PESTEL analysis methods. SWOT analysis helps to organize information about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to the implementation of flexible employment. Strategic management of labour flexibility requires effective legal regulation, investment in digital infrastructure, and the development of professional competencies adapted to new working formats. It is essential to mitigate potential risks while reinforcing the advantages of flexibility to ensure sustainable growth and social stability. PESTEL analysis, in turn, allows for the identification of external factors – political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal – that determine the conditions of labour market development. The systematic assessment of these factors clarifies how they interact and influence employment structures, enabling policymakers and businesses to design strategies for supporting flexible employment models. Special attention is devoted to digitalization, which fundamentally transforms employment patterns, professional training, and employer–employee relations. Building a sustainable, inclusive, and fair labour market in these new conditions requires coordinated strategic actions by the state, business, and educational institutions aimed at ensuring adaptability, social protection, and equal opportunities for all labour market participants.
