EXPORT OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS OF UKRAINE: CURRENT TRENDS
Abstract
The article is devoted to changes in the structure of agricultural exports of Ukraine that have occurred in recent years (2021-2024). Based on data from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine and the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the dynamics and structure of agricultural exports are analyzed. In particular, the overall growth in the role of agricultural products in the formation of export potential is noted (over the past year, this is more than half of Ukraine's commodity exports). In general, the analysis of dynamics and structure indicates the restoration of the export potential of Ukrainian agriculture after a difficult 2022, when exports of almost all types of products decreased significantly. Positive changes were supported by the flexibility of the management policy of exporters and their rapid adaptation to market conditions. However, not all producers managed to increase the growth rate of exports. We have identified the dominant areas of export production in Ukrainian agriculture. Only seven agricultural products accounted for the largest share - corn; sunflower, safflower or cottonseed oils; wheat; rapeseed or rapeseed; soybeans; meat and edible poultry by-products and barley. It is also noted that such productions as the production of meat and edible poultry by-products, soybeans, rapeseed and rapeseed can be considered promising areas for export in the future. Changes in the geographical structure of exports of dominant agricultural products in 2024 compared to 2021 have been identified. Conclusions have been drawn about positive changes in the geographical structure of exports, which correspond to changes in world trade, are adapted to logistical problems in Ukraine, and also contribute to the further development of international trade in Ukrainian agricultural products. In general, in recent years, Ukraine's agricultural exports have reached pre-war rates of development, and active structural changes contribute to the growth of the importance of agricultural products in the economic development of Ukraine and the establishment of stable and effective international trade relations.
