ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT STATE OF TRANSPORT ENTERPRISES
Abstract
The article examines the current state and trends in the development of the transport industry of Ukraine. The analysis is carried out using a statistical approach in the context of all major modes of transport for the period 2018-2023. The main negative and positive trends in the transport industry are identified, in particular, a decrease in transportation and cargo turnover, passenger traffic and passenger turnover. It was found that the improvement of freight turnover by road did not have a qualitative increase, as the transportation of goods decreased, which indicates that only the distance of transportation has changed, not the amount of cargo. The dynamics of the national gross domestic product (GDP) and the GDP created by transport enterprises were analyzed. The two indicators have a positive upward trend, as evidenced by trend lines with a high value of the approximation value. However, the analysis of the structure indicates a negative trend in the contribution of transport enterprises, which has almost halved over thirteen years. For a broader analysis of the transportation industry and identification of factors influencing their functioning, the number of enterprises in this industry was studied, comparing it with the total number in the economy. This allowed the authors of the article to identify the scale of the impact of a full-scale war on the industry as a whole and the indicators of its recovery. It was found that the main challenge for transport companies in 2024 is the lack of staff, rising logistics costs, limited operation of marine terminals and the danger of navigation, decreased demand, reduced exports and imports due to lower production, and electricity shortages. When studying the factors affecting the operation of transport enterprises that hinder the resumption of their work, the article identifies the most important ones for further consideration in the functioning and development of the transport industry. It is determined that all types of transportation in the transport industry of Ukraine are not economically sustainable. Conclusions are drawn regarding the overall economic sustainability of the transport industry of Ukraine in 2010-2023.
