TRANSFORMATION OF DISTRIBUTION RELATIONS IN THE INFORMATION AND NETWORK ECONOMY

Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the transformation of distributive relations in the context of the development of the information-network economy. Within this new paradigm, information is becoming a central factor in the generation of economic value, the exertion of influence, and the formation of competitive advantages. This redefines the structure of economic processes and reveals a dialectical contradiction between the public need for open access to knowledge and the prevailing logic of private ownership. As this contradiction intensifies, it leads to a gradual shift toward new forms of informational commons and universal access models. The study places special emphasis on the changing nature of labor. There is a notable increase in the share of intellectual employment, which often occurs outside the boundaries of formal labor institutions. Workers no longer sell long-term labor but rather specific outcomes of intellectual or creative activity, such as microtasks, fragments of design, or targeted digital solutions. These forms of labor are frequently carried out under unstable conditions, characterized by a lack of clear career progression and increasing dependence on opaque algorithmic management typical of digital platforms. Such trends point to a growing disconnect between economic activity and the regulated labor sphere, highlighting a delay in institutional adaptation. The article argues that the restructuring of distributive relations must proceed gradually and be firmly linked to the evolution of foundational economic institutions. It identifies the need for coordinated changes in ownership, taxation, education, employment policy, and systems of social support, enabling a shift toward models based on universal access to information, cooperative organization, and socially embedded mechanisms of provision. The conclusion is substantiated that the implementation of relevant policies requires synchronous, complementary changes in institutions - from education and the labor market to redistribution systems and global economic governance, as well as proper statistical support for certain management decisions.
