CRITERIA FOR REPLACING CRITICAL ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE: ACCELERATING THE TRANSITION TO CLEAN ENERGY FOR ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Keywords: renewable energy sources, economic policy, energy infrastructure, criteria, national security

Abstract

In today's environment, Ukraine faces numerous attacks on its power system and the loss of shunting generation, so the transformation of critical energy infrastructure and its green transition is crucial. It is essential to consider the country's geographical potential and diverse energy needs, as most renewable energy facilities are located in the south of Ukraine. A priority task is to develop renewable energy in energy-deficient regions and ensure the effective integration of electricity through interconnectors linking Ukraine's power system with neighboring countries. Criteria for replacing critical infrastructure and ensuring the stability of energy supply need to be defined. Given the current challenges, studying these criteria becomes even more relevant, as it will help form a roadmap for energy recovery and development. Identifying and implementing relevant criteria for replacing critical energy infrastructure is vital for achieving energy resilience and sustainable development. These criteria should consider the specifics of economic sectors, geographical conditions, and other factors affecting energy transformation efficiency. It is essential to ensure that these criteria are adapted to the conditions of specific regions and industries to maximize efficiency and meet society's needs. This will help increase Ukraine's energy security, stabilize the depleted economy, improve the quality of life for the population, and strengthen the reliability and resilience of the energy system in the face of numerous external threats. Establishing criteria for replacing critical facilities and ensuring a stable energy supply becomes even more important in light of the current challenges. Facilitating the creation of a plan to restore and develop the energy sector will increase Ukraine's energy security, stabilize the economy, and improve the living standards of the population. Reliability and continuity of electricity supply, climate neutrality, modernization, innovation, integration with international markets, social justice, and protection of vulnerable groups are key elements determining a successful transition to clean energy.
