APPROACHES TO MANAGING THE DURATION OF ENTERPRISE LIFE CYCLE STAGES
Abstract
The relevance of the study is caused by various performance indicators of enterprises at different stages of the life cycle, in particular, the amount and dynamics of profits and cash flows. The purpose of the study is to compare life cycle models to identify typical management problems and opportunities for business development at different stages of the life cycle; analysis of approaches to managing the stages of the enterprise's life cycle. The description of various theories of the life cycle of the enterprise is given. The content of some life cycle models of organizations was considered, and their comparison was made. The common and distinctive features of each model, the main problems and management tasks at each stage of the organization's life cycle are revealed. The general logic of business development during the life cycle is common in all approaches: everything starts with the search for a business idea, analysis of the environment, development of a business model, search for investors and start-up of the business. Then the business grows, adapts management approaches to successfully manage a large company, and at the end of the life cycle considers opportunities for further growth or liquidation of the business. Approaches to managing the stages of the enterprise life cycle are analysed. Attention is focused on the need to manage the duration of the stages of the life cycle of the enterprise, in particular, to reduce the duration of the stages of birth and entry into the market, to extend the duration of the stage of maturity due to the implementation of innovations. The goals for managing the duration of the stages of the life cycle of the enterprise are proposed. The practical value of the obtained results consists in providing recommendations to entrepreneurs regarding the goals of managing the duration of the stages of the life cycle of the enterprise with the aim to reduce investment payback periods and to extend the stages of effective profitable work. Directions for further research regarding the list of indicators used to determine the stages of the enterprise's life cycle are outlined.
