PECULIARITIES OF DEVELOPMENT AND FUNCTIONING OF THE TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE OF UKRAINE IN THE CONTEXT OF FOREIGN ECONOMIC ACTIVITY
Abstract
The article examines and investigates the problems of Ukraine's transport infrastructure, taking into account the current conditions that require restructuring of transport flows, supply chains, logistics schemes, and an increase in the intensity of operation of checkpoints to the customs territory on the western and southern directions. The author proposes a model for determining the volume of transportation and its relationship with the volume of export-import operations. The results of the study show that there is a correlation between the volume of foreign economic operations and freight turnover on the territory of Ukraine. The process of concluding and implementing foreign economic contracts has an impact on cargo turnover, both international and domestic (supply chains). It is worth noting that transport infrastructure, its quality and capacity are key elements in the process of export and import operations. There are already existing IT solutions for all these tasks – MRP, ERP, CRM systems, often even created by domestic software development companies. Some of these information systems (the most advanced ones) also take into account transport and logistics indicators in the operation of manufacturing enterprises. It is proved that there is a need to expand the network of cargo checkpoints both by road and rail, and also to modernize the existing ones to increase throughput, as this will affect the growth of cargo turnover, the speed of cargo delivery in supply chains and reduce the transportation costs and projected costs of economic agents. The creation and modernization of critical elements of the transport infrastructure play an important role in ensuring economic development of the country and increase the competitiveness of products of domestic enterprises and must be done with calculation the indicators of spatial inequality, population migration and its sectoral and regional asymmetry. The author formulates theoretical and practical recommendations for improving the economic efficiency, sustainable development and modernization of transport infrastructure of Ukraine.
