TRANSFORMATION OF THE ICT SECTOR IN UKRAINE: ANALYSIS OF TRENDS AND STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
In a globalized world, where economies are becoming increasingly interconnected, the information and communication sector and the latest information technologies act as critical factors affecting the structure of the world economy. Digital technologies that transform production, consumption, and international trade profoundly impact the sustainability and balance of global economic systems and the formation of the digital economy. The digital economy is all economic activity carried out through information and communication technologies and other digital technologies. It covers not only IT developments and scientific digital solutions but also e-commerce, online services, finance digitalization, and digitized enterprises’ results. The article is devoted to analyzing the development and prospects of the digital economy in Ukraine. This article aims to expand the understanding of current trends in the development of the digital economy in Ukraine and identify ways for further research in this area. The study examines the peculiarities of the development of innovative processes in Ukraine. With the help of general scientific methods and statistical data analysis, the development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the country in accordance with the goals of forming sustainable ecosystems is analyzed. The analysis shows a steady growth in Internet users, an increase in the volume of IT services exported, and a significant potential for the Ukrainian IT industry in the international market. Implementing modern IT technologies and services in various spheres of life (education, health care, security, environmental protection, communal services, transport, etc.) increases the economy’s efficiency. Digitalization of interaction between society, business, and the state can prevent corruption, improve public service quality, and ensure government activity transparency and accountability. The key challenges facing Ukraine’s digital economy are also outlined, such as digital inequality, the instability of the political and economic environment, and insufficient support for scientific research and innovation. Recommendations are offered for further research in this area, in particular, further study of the influence of political and economic factors on the sector’s development, strategies for increasing the availability and quality of IT services for the population, and analysis of the effectiveness of government and business community measures to accelerate the digital transformation of the economy on the basis of sustainable development.
