DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE AS A FACTOR OF INCREASING GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS

Abstract

The article examines the role. The article analyzes the strategic importance of the development of transport infrastructure in ensuring economic growth and increasing the country's global competitiveness. The main attention is paid to the identification of the key determinants of the transport network development, including its socio-economic, economic and environmental impact. It is analyzed how changes in the availability of transport, increased productivity, changes in income and employment levels, migration of production factors, as well as changes in real estate prices affect socio-economic development. The economic impact is considered through the prism of infrastructure development costs and profits, as well as through the efficiency of transport processes and road safety. Environmental impact includes assessment of consequences for climate, natural resources, biological diversity and cultural heritage. A SWOT-analysis of the impact of transport development on the country's competitiveness has been developed. The SWOT-analysis helped to identify strategic opportunities for the development of transport infrastructure, which can improve connections between regions and countries, facilitate trade and increase economic growth. The article indicates the main challenges faced by the transport industry in Ukraine and offers a set of recommendations for solving them. Key problems were identified: outdated infrastructure, insufficient funding, high level of corruption and bureaucracy, lack of a comprehensive development strategy, as well as insufficient integration with European transport networks. For each of these problems, relevant recommendations are provided: from the modernization and reconstruction of transport infrastructure to the creation of conditions for public-private partnerships, strengthening of anti-corruption measures, implementation of transparent tender procedures and development of a comprehensive long-term strategy for the development of the industry. The need for standardization and adaptation to European norms to ensure better integration of Ukraine into the European transport space is emphasized. It is characterized that a comprehensive approach to the development of transport infrastructure is key to improving the quality of life of citizens, stimulating economic growth and promoting sustainable development of the country.
