Keywords: bioeconomy, factors, focus groups, content analysis, sustainable entrepreneurship, qualitative research

Abstract

Bioeconomic transformation of organizations has a significant potential to influence the economic and social development of the country. Bioeconomy, based on the active implementation of innovative technologies, processes, and approaches, will increase productivity and efficiency by producing high-quality, environmentally friendly, and sustainable products and services. Even though Ukraine has undertaken a number of commitments related to the achievement of global sustainable development goals, no strategic documents and plans have been developed yet for further movement in the declared direction. This study aims to develop a methodology for assessing and determining factors affecting the strategic development of enterprises in the bio-economic sector based on a qualitative content analysis of the focus group research results. The conducted research is the first broad approach to analysing factors affecting the corporate perception of the bio-economic transformation of enterprises and organizations. It fills the gap in research on the sustainable bio-economic transformation of socio-economic systems based on the sustainable entrepreneurship concept. The article thoroughly examines the methodology of a complex study necessary to achieve the set goals. The theoretical basis, methods of sample formation, the structure of focus group research and expert survey, and the procedure for analyzing the obtained data are described. The results of the focus group research are the basis of further quantitative research, that is, the analysis of factors using the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Hierarchical Value Mapping. The study's results contribute to expanding knowledge about the factors influencing the development process of effective and sustainable innovative ecosystems. The typology of factors into categories such as prerequisites, drivers, and values, as well as risks and opportunities for bioeconomy transformation, will play an essential role in developing policy strategies to support bioeconomy entrepreneurship at the regional level to promote the development of bioeconomy innovation.
