EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL: OPPORTUNITIES AND CONSEQUENCES FOR UKRAINIAN BUSINESS

Abstract

The main purpose of the article is to analyze the main objective, areas and goals of the European Green Deal, as well as to identify key prospects of Ukrainian business development in the context of the European Green Deal implementation. The purpose of the article was achieved through the use of the following methods: analysis and synthesis of processed information, logical generalization and scientific abstraction. In particular, it is noted that the European Green Deal is an integral part of European Commission’s strategy to implement the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda and the sustainable development goals. It includes areas of activities covering the climate, the environment, energy, transport, industry, agriculture and sustainable finance, all of which are strongly interlinked. The main initiatives of the European Union towards the European Green Deal implementation have been analyzed. In particular, the most important initiatives include the following: Fit for 55; European climate law; EU strategy on adaptation to climate change; EU biodiversity strategy for 2030; Farm to fork strategy; European industrial strategy; Circular economy action plan; Batteries and waste batteries; A just transition; Clean, affordable and secure energy; EU chemicals strategy for sustainability; Forest strategy and deforestation. This in turn opens up significant opportunities for economic growth, the potential for new business models and markets, contributes to job creation and technological development. Particular attention is paid to the study of Ukrainian business development prospects in the context of the European Green Deal. For Ukrainian business, the implementation of the European Green Deal is, first of all, the standards that determine the directions of its further transformation towards a sustainable future. It has been determined that the European Green Deal has significant advantages for the government, business, as well as for the citizens of Ukraine as a whole. The European Green Deal is an important component not only of the European integration process of our country, but also of its post-war recovery. The results of the study will allow to deepen knowledge about the European Green Deal, that is especially important for Ukrainian business.
