DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOURIST AND RECREATIONAL POTENTIAL OF THE CHERKASY REGION: IMPLEMENTATION OF EU PRACTICES
Abstract
The article analyses the tourist and recreational potential of Cherkasy region as a factor in shaping the region's competitiveness as a tourist destination. Using strategic analysis methods, we assessed the region's tourism and recreational potential, determined its impact on competitiveness, and outlined current challenges and necessary factors for growth and development. In our study, we identified ways to realise this potential through cooperation between business, local authorities, research institutions and the public in the region. It is determined that the success of a tourist destination depends on the balance between economic development, environmental protection and community well-being. It is substantiated that continuous monitoring of development indicators and adaptation are important for ensuring sustainable development and growth of the region under martial law. The main attention is paid to the adaptation to domestic conditions of effective approaches used by EU countries to achieve their strategic goals in the development of tourist destinations. The author identifies the directions of development of tourist destinations in wartime and post-war with an emphasis on achieving the goals of sustainable development and compliance with the European standards of an inclusive society. Based on our research, we can predict that the main goods and services of the tourist and recreational regional market in Cherkasy region during the war and post-war periods will be goods and services related to the rehabilitation and recreation of military personnel and their families, internally displaced persons and other civilians, as well as unique Ukrainian tourist products related to tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The demand for these goods and services will form a new type and specialisation of the regional tourism market. Accordingly, the complex should become a system of economically and socially interconnected industries, productions, manufacturing and service enterprises on the territory of tourist and recreational resources for an inclusive society.
