ANALYTICAL ASSESSMENT OF MEDICINAL PLANT DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES
Abstract
The field of medicinal plants in Ukraine is at the stage of formation and needs to develop an effective strategy for the future, taking into account the current crisis conditions. The relevance of this topic is due to the fact that medicinal plants are of crucial importance for the preservation of biodiversity on the planet, for the development of trade and economic growth. In addition, there is a war going on in Ukraine, which has worsened the physical and psychological condition of thousands and thousands of people, they need and will need treatment for a long time. This is also one of the factors of increasing attention to the spread of production and processing of medicinal plants. In this regard, an analytical assessment of the strategies for the development of medicinal plants in different countries of the world was carried out with the aim of their further adaptation and introduction in Ukraine in the post-war period. The study was carried out on the example of such countries as India, China, Vietnam and Thailand. The choice of these countries is due to the fact that they are leaders in the number of medicinal plants used to meet various needs. In particular, various types of tools aimed at intensifying the development of the production of medicinal plants in India, which is one of the leading countries in this field, were considered. Various strategies at different levels based on public-private partnership in India have been found to contribute to the development of the industry both in the context of medicinal plant production and conservation. The tools of the state policy of the Chinese government regarding the development of medicinal plants are analyzed. It has been established that their effectiveness is due primarily to the fact that the production of medicinal plants is considered from the perspective of long-term business. The industry development strategies in Vietnam and Thailand are also briefly analyzed. Finally, the main characteristic features of the analyzed strategies were summarized and a range of tools that can be used in Ukraine for the development of medicinal plants in the post-war period were highlighted.
