ECOSYSTEM SERVICES MANAGEMENT STRATEGY AS AN INDICATOR OF AN ENTERPRISE'S ECONOMIC SECURITY

Keywords: ecosystem services, economic security, management, strategy, ESG, sustainability

Abstract

The article examines the role of ecosystem services as a critical factor in ensuring the economic security of enterprises under conditions of increasing environmental risks and resource constraints. The relevance of the study is driven by the transformation of business environments toward sustainability-oriented models and the growing importance of natural capital in long-term value creation. The research focuses on the integration of ecosystem services into strategic management systems and ESG frameworks as a means of enhancing enterprise resilience and risk mitigation. The conceptual relationship between ecosystem services and economic security is explored through the analysis of resource dependency, environmental efficiency, and social stability. The paper highlights the limitations of traditional approaches to economic security that primarily rely on financial indicators and fail to account for environmental externalities, ecosystem degradation, and the strategic consequences of resource scarcity. A methodological framework for developing a strategy for managing ecosystem services is proposed, emphasizing the need to identify ecosystem dependencies, assess their impact, and incorporate them into decision-making processes. Particular attention is paid to the role of ecosystem-based indicators in monitoring threats, prioritizing preventive measures, and supporting adaptive management. The study demonstrates that enterprises adopting ecosystem-oriented strategies are better positioned to withstand external shocks, reduce operational risks, improve stakeholder trust, and achieve sustainable development goals. The proposed approach also strengthens the connection between corporate responsibility, environmental governance, and economic security. The findings contribute to the advancement of economic security theory by incorporating ecosystem-based perspectives into enterprise management and by outlining directions for further applied assessment.
