MODERN DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN TOURISM: ONLINE PLATFORMS, MOBILE APPLICATIONS AND THEIR ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF GASTRONOMIC TOURISM

Abstract

The article examines the current trends in the digital transformation of the tourism sector, with particular attention to the implementation of online platforms and mobile applications as key tools for the development of modern tourism services. Digital technologies are increasingly shaping the structure and functioning of the tourism market, influencing the processes of travel planning, service booking, communication with clients, and management of tourism enterprises. The study identifies the role of digital technologies in improving the efficiency of tourism enterprise management, expanding opportunities for marketing activities, and developing personalized tourist services. Special attention is paid to the impact of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, robotization of business processes, and augmented and virtual reality technologies on optimizing the tourist experience and improving service quality. The research also highlights the growing importance of mobile applications as an effective instrument for increasing the competitiveness of tourism enterprises. Mobile technologies enable companies to provide personalized recommendations, interactive travel guides, and location-based services that significantly enhance the overall tourist experience. In addition, the article analyzes the role of digital tools in the development of gastronomic tourism, which combines cultural heritage, local traditions, and innovative approaches to the creation of tourism products. Online platforms and mobile applications facilitate the promotion of local gastronomic destinations, support small producers and restaurants, and allow tourists to easily access information about culinary routes, events, and services. Furthermore, the study outlines several challenges associated with the digital transformation of the tourism industry. These challenges include issues of digital security and personal data protection, unequal access to technological infrastructure across regions, and insufficient digital competencies among tourism professionals. The importance of strengthening public–private partnerships to support innovation and develop a sustainable digital tourism ecosystem in Ukraine is emphasized. Particular attention is paid to the need for improving digital literacy among tourism sector employees and creating open data infrastructures that would enhance transparency, cooperation, and data-driven decision-making within the industry. The article concludes that digitalization is a key driver of recovery, modernization, and long-term growth of the tourism sector. The integration of advanced digital technologies, the development of integrated tourism platforms, and the creation of a unified digital ecosystem will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of tourism enterprises, improving the quality of tourist services, and strengthening the international attractiveness of tourist destinations.
