CURRENT STATE OF PET-FRIENDLY TOURISM IN THE WORLD AND THE PROSPECTS FOR ITS DEVELOPMENT IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The role of pets in people’s lives, as well as the role of travelers themselves in the development of pet-friendly tourism, cannot be underestimated. The article explores the impact of pet-friendly movement on tourism transportation. In general, pet-friendly is a profitable business. The pet-friendly concept is analyzed as an important motivator for the development of transport. Pet-friendly means that a place, institution or organization provides the opportunity to stay and travel with animals by providing appropriate services. Approaches to the understanding and features of the work of the pet-friendly tourism movement are considered. The level and features of pet-friendly transport, the structure of the pet-friendly tourism market in the world and Ukraine are studied. The domestic and foreign experience of pet-friendly accommodation establishments, transport companies and tour operators is characterized. Most families worry about whether their pet is okay while they are out of the room, so it would be appropriate to introduce pet-friendly packages in hotels that will include a collection of toys (according to the type of animal), treats, babysitting, grooming (procedures for care), additional services. In Ukraine, it’s possible to travel with animals both by air and by rail, and also by metro. The most pet-friendly metro system in the world is the London Underground. It allows dogs to be carried on leashes throughout the system, unlike many other undergrounds that require them to be in carriers. The problems and prospects of organizing the activities of pet-friendly tourism transportation in Ukraine, in particular, aviation and rail, are identified. Recommendations are developed to improve tourism transportation in Ukraine in accordance with the pet-friendly movement. Ukraine still lacks the experience of pet-friendly tourism and should focus on foreign successful cases. Travelers with pets have to plan their trips on their own, trusting only the Internet search database, which slows down and complicates the planning process. Abroad, this problem is solved by creating pet-friendly tour operators.
