THE ROLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN OVERCOMING THE IMBALANCE BETWEEN THE DIGITAL AND INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF UKRAINE
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the impact of digitalization on the innovative development of the economy and the determination of the role of higher education institutions in bridging the gap between digital and innovative development. The relevance of the topic is due to the growing importance of digital technologies as a driver of economic growth and the presence of an imbalance between the level of digital readiness and the innovative development of Ukraine, which limits the effectiveness of the implementation of digital potential. The methodological basis of the study is the methods of analysis and synthesis, comparative analysis, grouping (the method of equal intervals), as well as the graphical method. The information base was the scientific works of domestic and foreign researchers, as well as statistical data of the Networked Readiness Index and the Global Innovation Index. As a result of the study, it was established that Ukraine is characterized by an average level of network readiness and a low level of innovative development, which indicates the presence of a structural imbalance between digital potential and its innovative implementation. It was found that digitalization and innovation are interrelated, but in Ukraine there is insufficient efficiency in transforming digital opportunities into innovative results. It is proven that higher education institutions play an important role in overcoming this imbalance as key institutions for the formation of human capital, the development of innovative potential and the generation of new knowledge. The main areas of participation of higher education institutions in ensuring the digital and innovative development of the economy are substantiated, in particular through the formation of digital competencies, the development of scientific and research activities, technology transfer, the creation of innovative ecosystems, strengthening cooperation with business and the development of entrepreneurial culture. The practical value of the results lies in the possibility of their use in the formation of state policy in the field of digitalization and innovative development, as well as in improving the development strategies of higher education institutions.
