FORMATION OF A SYSTEM OF INDICATORS FOR ASSESSING ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL IN THE CONTEXT OF ECONOMIC SECURITY
Abstract
The study substantiates that enterprise development potential should be considered a comprehensive characteristic of an enterprise’s ability to use resources effectively, adapt to environmental changes, achieve strategic goals and maintain economic security. The relationship between development potential and economic security is reciprocal, since the existing development potential creates the basis for stable functioning, whereas an insufficient level of economic security may restrict the use of available opportunities and restrain enterprise development. Scientific approaches to understanding enterprise development potential and its connection with economic security have been systematized. A system of indicators for its assessment has been proposed, comprising financial, production-resource, human-intellectual, innovation-investment, market-managerial and security-adaptive components. This structure combines development parameters with indicators of resilience, adaptability and protection against threats. The methodological sequence of assessment includes indicator selection, their division into stimulators and destimulators, normalization of values, determination of weighting coefficients and calculation of partial integral assessments. A criterion-based scale is proposed to determine the level of development of individual components and interpret the results. The use of partial assessments instead of a single aggregate indicator preserves the multidimensional nature of enterprise development potential and enables comparison between its components. The proposed approach creates a methodological basis for structural diagnostics, identification of strong and problematic components, detection of imbalances and substantiation of managerial decisions aimed at strengthening economic security. Its application may improve analytical support for enterprise management and help determine priority areas for development. Prospects for research include practical testing of the proposed system and refinement of weighting coefficients with regard to industry specifics.
