INTEGRATION OF PROJECT AND PROCESS APPROACHES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION ENTERPRISES IN THE CONDITIONS OF DIGITALIZATION
Abstract
The article investigates the theoretical and methodological foundations of integrating project and process approaches in the management of construction enterprises under conditions of accelerated digital transformation. The construction sector is characterized by a specific dual nature of activity: on the one hand, enterprises implement unique investment and development projects with clearly defined objectives, deadlines, budgets, and resource constraints; on the other hand, they rely on a stable system of repetitive operational processes that ensure the continuity of production, logistics, procurement, quality control, and administrative support. Such a combination of temporary project activities and permanent business processes creates objective prerequisites for the synthesis of project and process management paradigms within a unified management system. The study substantiates the necessity of integrating these managerial approaches as a response to the increasing complexity of construction projects, the growth of uncertainty in the external environment, the intensification of competition, and the need to improve operational efficiency and organizational flexibility. Special attention is paid to the impact of digital technologies on management transformation in the construction industry. The role of Building Information Modeling (BIM), ERP systems, cloud platforms, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and digital twins as catalysts for integration processes is determined. It is argued that digital technologies ensure real-time information exchange, improve coordination between project participants, and support data-driven decision-making. The study emphasizes that digital transformation should be understood not only as technological modernization, but also as a fundamental change in organizational culture, management philosophy, and approaches to business process coordination. The obtained results have practical significance for managers and executives of construction enterprises seeking to enhance competitiveness, adaptability, and sustainability in a digitalized economic environment.
