THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL ARCHITECTURE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL CURRENCIES AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Abstract

This article examines the transformation of the global financial architecture in the context of the development of digital currencies and artificial intelligence. It is argued that the modern global financial system is undergoing structural changes under the influence of digitalisation, the spread of central bank digital currencies, crypto-assets, decentralised finance, blockchain technologies and big data analysis tools. It is established that these processes are altering the mechanisms of international settlements, the functioning of payment systems, the management of financial flows, and approaches to international financial regulation. Particular attention is paid to the role of central bank digital currencies, which are gradually becoming one of the key elements of the new financial architecture and reflect the transition from conceptual development to the practical integration of digital technologies into the global financial system. The impact of the geo-economic rivalry between the US and China on the digitalisation of the currency sector, the development of the digital yuan, dollar-pegged stablecoins, tokenised deposits and digital payment platforms is analysed. It is demonstrated that the digitalisation of money intensifies competition between traditional currency systems, state-issued digital currencies and private digital assets, accompanied by a gradual transformation of the US dollar’s role in the global financial environment. The significance of artificial intelligence in the financial sector is revealed, particularly in creditworthiness analysis, risk assessment, transaction monitoring, market dynamics forecasting and the automation of financial services. It has been established that the combination of artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies contributes to increased transparency of operations, accelerated international settlements and the improvement of decentralised financial systems. At the same time, it is argued that the digitalisation of the financial sector is accompanied by an increase in cyber threats, regulatory discrepancies, data concentration risks, technological vulnerabilities and opportunities for the manipulation of digital information. The need to establish an adaptive system of international regulation, develop cybersecurity and data protection, and ensure coordination between states is emphasised. For Ukraine, the development of digital infrastructure, the modernisation of regulatory mechanisms, and participation in the formulation of international standards are of strategic importance, with the aim of strengthening macroeconomic stability and integration into the global financial landscape.
