MODERN TRENDS IN SOCIETAL PERCEPTION OF QUANTUM TECHNOLOGIES IN THE INTERNET SPACE
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of current aspects of modeling the impact of modern mass communication tools on societal attitudes toward quantum technologies as an emerging innovation. The aim of the study is to provide a quantitative assessment of societal attitudes toward quantum technologies over time through the lens of the Internet space. In the course of the research, both general scientific methods (analysis, systematization, synthesis, and modeling) and applied methods (competitive intelligence, information retrieval, Internet monitoring, content analysis, and query information profiling) were employed. A model for the quantitative assessment of the levels of relevance and societal rejection of quantum technologies is substantiated based on consolidated volumes of news flows from open Internet sources, taking into account the sentiment of their content and the segmentation of the Internet space. Based on the results of Internet monitoring conducted using the InfoStream content analysis system, the dynamics of relevance and societal rejection of this innovation in the Internet space were evaluated using integral monthly indices over the period from October 2025 to April 2026. Search queries covered typical Internet segments such as mass media, social networks, and English-language media, which enabled the identification of specific features of attitudes toward quantum technologies in the post-Soviet information space and in the English-speaking space. Overall, empirical estimates indicate a consistently high level of societal interest in this innovation across both information spaces. At the same time, the level of societal rejection of quantum technologies in the post-Soviet information space is twice as high as in the English-speaking space. Quantum computing makes the greatest contribution to societal attitudes toward quantum technologies in both information spaces. In the English-speaking space, a nearly equal and stable level of influence of quantum modeling and quantum programming on societal attitudes is observed. In contrast, the post-Soviet information space is characterized by the lowest contribution of quantum programming to societal attitudes toward quantum technologies, alongside a higher level of interest in quantum modeling. At present, Ukrainian society does not demonstrate a clearly positive perception of quantum technologies, as the volume of neutral news flows in the post-Soviet information space on this topic exceeds that of positive ones. Therefore, greater attention should be paid by researchers and practitioners to quantum programming as a direction for the development of quantum approaches to solving practical problems.
