SOCIAL ECONOMY AS A DRIVER OF SUSTAINABLE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to provide a theoretical and methodological justification for the role of the social economy as a driver of sustainable regional development, as well as to develop analytical tools for assessing its impact on the structural balance, inclusiveness, and long-term effectiveness of regional economic systems. The research methodology is based on a combination of systemic and institutional approaches, which allows us to consider the social economy as an integrated component of regional development. The methods of content analysis, comparative analysis to identify interregional differences, as well as the method of logical generalization to determine the influence of socio-economic factors on sustainability parameters were used. Additionally, the method of scientific abstraction was used to form theoretical conclusions of the study. The article explores the theoretical and methodological principles of the functioning of the social economy as a key driver of ensuring sustainable development of regions. It is substantiated that modern transformation processes in regional economic systems are accompanied by growing imbalances in the distribution of resources and an increased need to form inclusive business models, which actualizes the development of socially oriented economic institutions. It is determined that the social economy forms a specific segment of economic relations, within which economic efficiency and social orientation of the activities of business entities are combined. It is found that the implementation of the principles of the social economy in regional development models involves the integration of mechanisms of social entrepreneurship, cooperation and solidarity, which ensures an increase in the level of employment, optimization of the use of local resources and strengthening the economic stability of territories. The toolkit for assessing the impact of the social economy on the parameters of sustainable regional development is substantiated, which is based on the use of economic and statistical indicators and correlation and regression analysis. It is established that the activation of socio-economic initiatives contributes to increasing the adaptability of regional systems to external challenges and creates the prerequisites for their qualitative transformation. It is generalized that the social economy is an important tool for achieving sustainable regional development, ensuring the synergy of economic and social effects.
