THE SYNERGISTIC INTEGRATION OF MEDICAL, RECREATIONAL, AND ECO-TOURISM AS THE FOUNDATION FOR DEVELOPING COMPETITIVE TOURISM CLUSTERS

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to develop practical approaches to creating competitive tourism clusters in Ukraine. The paper is aimed at combining medical services, recreational opportunities, and ecological resources. The study identifies models of coordinated interaction among natural sites, healthcare institutions, hotels, transport networks, and digital platforms. Such integration creates stable regional income. Analytical, comparative, and applied methods were used in the study. Regional grouping of Ukraine’s resource base was carried out. A structural analysis of interaction among tourism market participants was conducted. Models of cluster configurations were developed, and economic scenarios of their implementation were assessed. Efficiency was measured using indicators of synergy, digital optimization, return on state support, and commercial performance of integrated tourism products. The information base includes scientific publications, official statistics, industry reports, and generalized data on tourism enterprises. The study confirms the highest efficiency of coordination among medical institutions, accommodation facilities, recreational zones, transport operators, and local communities within compact territorial associations. The expediency of developing specialized clusters in the Carpathians, Podillia, and the Black Sea region was determined. Each of them is focused on wellness, rehabilitation, and climatic services. The introduction of package products increases the average travel budget. The duration of tourists’ stay rises. Infrastructure load is distributed more evenly throughout the year. A unified digital booking and service support platform increases the share of repeat orders. It also reduces operating costs of business entities. The obtained results have practical value for public authorities, local communities, investors, and business entities. The proposed models can be used when planning new tourism zones. They are suitable for developing regional support programs. The materials contribute to promoting Ukrainian wellness and ecological tourism in international markets. The scientific novelty lies in substantiating an integrated model of cluster development. It combines medical services, recreational potential, and natural resources into a single economic system.
