SYSTEMATIZATION OF BUSINESS REPUTATIONAL RISKS
Abstract
The article examines the theoretical foundations for the systematization of business reputational risks, given their growing importance for ensuring the sustainable development of companies. The study's relevance stems from the increasing dependence of business performance on stakeholders' perceptions, as well as the expansion of digital and informational environments that intensify reputational vulnerabilities. The purpose of the study is to develop a conceptual approach to the systematization of business reputational risks based on integrated risk management principles. The methodological basis of the research includes general scientific methods such as analysis and synthesis, comparison, structural and logical analysis, and generalization, which enabled the identification of key characteristics and patterns of reputational risk manifestation. The study also relies on a systematic approach to structuring risks within a company's overall risk management framework. As a result, a structured classification of business reputational risks by key categories of their manifestation is proposed, enabling a more comprehensive identification of sources of negative stakeholder perception. The dual nature of reputational risk is substantiated through the distinction between primary and secondary risks. Primary risks arise independently of the company's actual performance and are associated with subjective or distorted information. In contrast, secondary risks arise from deviations in operational, financial, or strategic activities and reflect the materialization of other risks. The practical value of the study lies in the applicability of the proposed systematization for improving corporate risk management systems. The results can be used to enhance the identification, assessment, and monitoring of reputational risks, as well as to develop differentiated management approaches that combine preventive measures for secondary risks and reactive communication strategies for primary risks. Further research should focus on developing a business-reputation risk management system based on an interdisciplinary approach.
