ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE: THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS, FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS, AND STRATEGIC IMPLICATIONS

Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive study of organizational culture as a systemic phenomenon that shapes employee behavior, fosters internal stability within an organization, and ensures its adaptability and strategic effectiveness. It examines theoretical approaches to defining the essence of culture, its structure, and its temporal and spatial dimensions, as well as pragmatic and phenomenological approaches to management. The paper examines the internal functions of organizational culture that foster the development of shared values, behavioral norms, and staff motivation, as well as enhance internal cohesion; it also explores the external functions that influence the company’s image, customer interactions, and adaptation to market and social conditions. The study examines the mechanisms by which culture is shaped through learning, socialization, experience, and the interaction of structural elements, as well as its relationship with strategic management and the implementation of business processes. Foreign and domestic experience in corporate culture management was analyzed, including an assessment of value components, psychological aspects of motivation, behavioral models of personnel, and the influence of national and socio-psychological factors. The study identifies unresolved issues, including methods for assessing the effectiveness of organizational culture, its strategic impact on the competitiveness and adaptability of enterprises, as well as ways to integrate cultural factors into the management system amid high turbulence and instability in the external environment. Particular attention is paid to the role of culture as a resource capable of ensuring long-term development, the effective implementation of strategic goals, and the formation of behavioral models among personnel that contribute to improving the enterprise’s performance. The findings of this study have practical implications for business leaders and managers, enabling them to develop recommendations for managing corporate culture, enhancing its adaptability, and integrating it with strategic development plans-all of which contribute to building competitive advantages and organizational resilience in today’s environment of economic and social uncertainty.
