ANALYTICAL REVIEW OF CONTEMPORARY TRENDS IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY OF CAPITAL, LABOUR, AND TECHNOLOGY
Abstract
The article provides a comprehensive analysis of current trends in the transformation of international mobility of capital, labour, and technology within the global economy, with a particular focus on Ukraine. The study identifies a set of external and internal factors that shape the formation and development of global economic flows, including macroeconomic stability, institutional conditions, technological capacity, and geopolitical influences. Special attention is paid to the dynamic changes reflected in the KOF Globalisation Index, the Global Competitiveness Index, and the Global Innovation Index, which together capture the evolving degree of integration, economic resilience, and innovation potential of the country. The findings indicate that global processes of digitalisation, structural shifts in value chains, and increasing competition for resources significantly alter traditional patterns of factor mobility. In the case of Ukraine, these transformations are accompanied by instability caused by economic shocks, pandemic effects, and war-related disruptions, which constrain the movement of capital, reduce labour mobility through migration losses, and weaken technological development due to limited investment capacity. The paper substantiates the application of the gravity model as an appropriate analytical tool for examining the interdependence of international flows. An adapted version of the model is proposed, incorporating indicators of economic scale, global integration, competitiveness, and innovation potential for both Ukraine and its key partner countries. The results demonstrate that the intensity of international interactions is primarily determined by the size of economies, their institutional and technological development, and geographical proximity. The proposed approach allows for a more integrated assessment of factor mobility and can serve as a basis for improving Ukraine’s economic policy aimed at strengthening its position in global economic processes and long-term development priorities under conditions of uncertainty.
