FORMATION OF AN ADAPTIVE ECONOMIC SECURITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES IN THE CONTEXT OF ENSURING THEIR PROFITABILITY UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MILITARY CHALLENGES
Abstract
The article examines the impact of the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation on the economic security of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises and their profitability. It is substantiated that profitability is transforming from a traditional financial result into a key resource for the self-financing of security measures, asset recovery, and adaptation to new market conditions within the agricultural sector. Based on the analysis of domestic scientific publications, profitability is proposed to be viewed as a systemic indicator of capital efficiency, reflecting the level of economic compensation for exogenous and endogenous risks integrated into the enterprise's activities. This indicator serves as a marker of an agricultural enterprise's performance, confirming its capacity to ensure positive dynamics in financial results within a destabilized environment. Based on empirical assessments of direct and indirect damages to the agricultural sector, a summary of losses and recovery needs has been compiled. According to preliminary estimates (as of late 2024), direct material losses in the agricultural sector exceeded $11.2 billion. Structural analysis of these losses indicates an exhaustion of technical and infrastructural potential: the largest share is occupied by damage to machinery and equipment- - 6.5 $ billion (58%), while the destruction of storage facilities and losses from the theft of material and technical resources and finished products amount to $1.9 billion each (17% respectively). Furthermore, the primary burden of material and technical asset destruction is concentrated in the five most affected regions, with the Zaporizhzhia region leading in terms of direct destruction. The article proposes a strategic matrix of "opportunities – threats – results" and an evolutionary-adaptive model for managing the economic security of agricultural enterprises. These tools integrate geographical, financial, infrastructural, personnel, and innovative-climate adaptation to ensure sustainable profitability and minimize military-related losses.
