INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IN ECONOMIC STATISTICS: A MICROECONOMIC PERSPECTIVE
Abstract
The rapid development of the digital economy has significantly transformed the system of economic statistics, increasing the demand for timely, accurate, and reliable data to support decision-making processes at the national and international levels. The purpose of this article is to examine current trends in the implementation of information technologies in economic statistics and to assess their impact on the quality and efficiency of statistical research. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing role of digital tools in modern statistical systems and the need to adapt national statistics to global technological and methodological changes. The methodological framework of the research is based on general scientific and special methods, including analysis and synthesis, a systemic approach, comparative analysis of international practices, and generalization of statistical and regulatory information. These methods made it possible to identify key directions in the digital transformation of economic statistics and to assess the advantages and limitations of modern information technologies. The results of the study demonstrate that the introduction of information technologies significantly improves the efficiency of statistical processes by automating data collection, reducing the influence of the human factor, and enabling the integration of data from various administrative and alternative sources. The use of big data, cloud computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence expands the analytical capabilities of official statistics and allows for more flexible monitoring of economic processes. At the same time, the research identifies a number of challenges related to data protection, cybersecurity risks, methodological standardization, and the shortage of specialists with combined competencies in statistics and information technologies. The practical value of the article lies in the possibility of applying the obtained results in the development of national statistical strategies, modernization of statistical infrastructure, and improvement of data dissemination practices. The findings may be useful for public authorities, researchers, and practitioners involved in the digital transformation of economic statistics and the integration of national statistical systems into the global information environment.
