A STUDY ON THE STATE OF DIGITALIZATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR OF UKRAINE: A FOCUS ON THE INDUSTRY SPECIALIZATION OF LEADING COMPANIES

Abstract
In the article, a comprehensive study of the state of digitalization of leading construction companies in Ukraine is carried out. It is demonstrated that the dominant share of market positions is concentrated among road construction contractors, whereas companies focused on building construction and restoration form a niche segment. Based on the synthesis of financial indicators, participation in public procurement through the Prozorro system, the degree of BIM implementation, and integration with the state digital reconstruction management platform DREAM, a conditional typology of construction companies’ digital maturity levels (low, medium, medium-high, high) is developed. According to the results of the analysis, companies are allocated into several groups: the group of digital leaders includes large road and corporate companies that combine a significant volume of public contracts, a developed corporate IT infrastructure, and a strong potential for systemic BIM implementation and integration with DREAM. The group of medium and medium-high digital maturity comprises construction and energy enterprises whose digital practices are predominantly fragmented and require further standardization. Niche market participants use selected digital tools, but their involvement in large-scale reconstruction programmes remains limited. Particular attention is paid to the risks faced by companies with rapid revenue growth under conditions of unstable financial performance and an insufficiently developed digital ecosystem. It is substantiated that the combination of Prozorro, BIM and DREAM forms a critical infrastructure for transparent project and resource management in the construction sector and reconstruction processes, creating a basis for reducing corruption risks, increasing spending efficiency and attracting international financing. The article concludes that there is a need for the gradual regulatory consolidation of BIM requirements for public projects, the development of a unified system of digital key performance indicators for construction companies, and the introduction of instruments to support the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the construction sector.
