Abstract

The article examines the development of infrastructure and logistical routes for grain export from Ukraine in the context of global food security. It analyses key challenges in the Ukrainian grain export logistics, including the blockade of seaports, limited capacity of transportation corridors, destruction of infrastructure, high logistics costs, workforce shortages, and energy supply risks. The purpose of the article is to analyse the problems and prospects for the development of infrastructure and logistics routes for Ukrainian grain exports, taking into account their impact on the stability of global food markets and global food security, as well as to identify effective ways to optimise logistics chains in order to increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian grain exports. The study highlights how these factors disrupt the stability of international grain markets, increase transportation costs, delay shipments, and negatively affect the availability of food in countries heavily dependent on Ukrainian grain. Special attention is given to the interconnection between domestic logistical inefficiencies and their impact on global food security. The article proposes strategies for optimizing logistic chains, including the development of multimodal transportation systems, modernization of railway and road infrastructure, expansion of storage and trans-shipment capacities, and enhancement of human resources through training and retention programs. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of contingency planning and resilient infrastructure to mitigate risks associated with military conflicts and energy shortages. The findings underline that ensuring efficient and reliable grain export logistics from Ukraine is crucial not only for national economic stability but also for maintaining the predictability of international food supplies, stabilizing global markets, and supporting vulnerable importing regions. The research contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the strategic role of Ukraine in the global agri-food system and offers practical recommendations for strengthening the logistical frameworks necessary to secure both national and international food security.
